Rannoch Moor by Train

Take the train from beautiful and remote Rannoch Station on the west Highland Line and visit Fort William, Mallaig or Glasgow. The train travels through some of the best scenic areas in the world, starting with the bleak and spectacular Rannoch Moor. You buy the tickets on the train as no ticket office at the station.

The station is surrounded by some of the most majestic and awe inspiring scenery. To the north, past Rannoch Forest, the open, desolate landscape of Ben Alder Forest, to the south the Glen Lyon hills, to the east Schiehallion, the ‘Fairy Hill of the Caledonians’ and to the west, the mountains of Glencoe.

Be at one with nature on Rannoch Moor...
Curlews & Grouse play in the dense heather, Roe Deer graze early morning on the open ground whilst herds of Red Deer come down to the lower grounds in the cooler months, Red Squirrels jump about in the Pines & Beeches along the South shores of Loch Rannoch and rare sightings of Scottish wildcats have also been recorded. Birds of Prey such as Golden Eagles, Hobby Falcons, Kestrels, Hen Harriers & Ospreys can be spotted in the skys above Rannoch Moor.
